Do I have to settle with the Tax Office?

Users of Walutomat settle their own accounts with the Tax Office.

Individuals who are not engaged in a business and only exchange currencies for the purpose of using them for consumption (e.g. purchasing material goods) do not pay tax and do not have to report this on their tax return. On the other hand, when someone exchanges currencies for the purpose of gaining income from exchange rate differences and does so repeatedly during the year, they have to pay tax on the income gained. This can also be treated by the Tax Office as carrying out a business activity.

For more detailed information on how to account for the profit or loss incurred from your Walutomat business, contact your tax office.
