In what format to save a foreign bank account?
A bank account that participates in the international bank account numbering standard should be written in the IBAN format. In different countries, the account in this format is constructed in different ways and has a different number of characters, but it generally consists of the following elements:
country code (2 letters)
checksum (2 check digits)
bank and branch code
the relevant account number
Account held in the United Kingdom
GB11LOYD22222233333333
country code | check digits | bank code | sort code | account number |
GB | 11 | LOYD | 222222 | 33333333 |
We can also add an account without using the IBAN format for so-called non-IBAN countries (Australia, China (including Hong Kong and Macau), Japan, Canada, South Korea, New Zealand, Singapore, Taiwan).
