Why was I asked to send identification documents?

As a website offering a community currency exchange service, we are an obliged institution, i.e. subject to the Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism Act of 1 March 2018. We must comply with a number of conditions in order to ensure that our activities are as secure as possible. Among other things, this law requires us to identify our clients, record their identification data and also verify this data, which is why we may ask you to send us identification documents.

In order to use Walutomat.pl you must fill in the required data, including your PESEL number, series and number of an identity document (ID card, passport, residence card) and its expiry date, details of your company or business. We do not have the option of conducting transactions for anonymous Users. Due to the ongoing development of the Website, it may happen that your data is incomplete in relation to the current  Rules and Regulations. We will then ask you to complete it, even if you have been using our services for some time. We may also ask you to confirm your profile data. More detailed data increases the level of verification of your identity in the event of any problems with a transaction and thus increases the security of your funds.  If you do not complete all the necessary data, we will not be able to provide services to you.

We would also like to remind you that, according to the Rules and Regulations of the Website, a user account is individual and cannot be shared with another person.

Our clients’ personal data is protected in accordance with procedures and legal requirements (in accordance with –  Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC [General Data Protection Regulation], hereinafter referred to as  “GDPR”). We have implemented an internal security policy and have an appropriate organisational structure in place to support data security (Compliance Department and Security and Risk Management Department). We regularly carry out external security tests of our websites, so we ensure that our customers’ personal data is safe.
